Blue Earth — A Taller Wall Light With Natural Colour
The Kobe Ceramic Wall Light in Blue Earth is a taller, more substantial wall fitting than the compact Coco range — at 34cm tall with a 21cm projection it makes a genuinely decorative statement on a wall. The 14cm diameter ceramic shade carries the layered teal and ocean tones of the blue earth finish, applied by hand at Mullan Village before firing. The colour builds up differently across every individual piece so no two shades carry an identical depth or distribution of colour. In natural daylight the blue earth reads as cool and aquatic. With the warm light of the G9 bulb in the evening the deeper blues and greens within the glaze come forward and the fitting takes on a richness that transforms the wall it sits on.
How It Works
The ceramic shade faces outward and slightly downward, directing the G9 bulb's warm light across the wall surface and into the room. The blue earth ceramic body adds a note of natural colour at the level where it can be properly appreciated. A warm white dimmable G9 LED is recommended to bring out the richer, deeper tones of the blue earth finish in the evening light.
Where It Works Best
The Blue Earth Kobe is well suited to living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and dining rooms where a taller wall fitting with natural colour is wanted. Its 34cm height gives it a presence on a wall that smaller fittings cannot match. It pairs particularly well with natural stone, pale timber, limewash plaster and warm neutral walls, and works with brushed, antique brass and satin metal hardware finishes.
The Story Behind Mullan
Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. Ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed the blue earth finish as a translation of the blues and greens of the Irish landscape into a hand painted ceramic glaze. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass.

FAQs
What bulb does the Kobe Wall Light take?
It takes a G9 bulb, maximum 5W. Bulb not included. A warm white LED G9 is recommended. The warmer the colour temperature, the richer the blue earth tones appear in the evening.
Will the colour look exactly like the photos?
The blue earth finish is hand applied in layers, so the exact depth and distribution of colour varies naturally between pieces. The photos give a reliable guide to the overall tone but your piece will have its own particular quality of colour.
Is this suitable for a bathroom?
The Kobe Wall Light is IP20 rated and suitable for dry indoor areas only. It is not certified for bathroom wet zones. Please contact us if you need a bathroom rated fitting and we will advise.
Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable G9 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.
Can I return it?
Yes. Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Please contact us to arrange.
