Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor inside the shell of a 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, a settlement whose name derives from muileann, the Irish for mill. The ceramics studio grew from a vision to reconnect the village with its heritage as a community of makers, and ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed the ceramic finishing techniques that have become the studio's signature.
