The Mullan Ferox Pendant in Marbled finish is one of those pieces that looks like it has always belonged wherever you put it. The marbled ceramic shade draws from a palette of cream, warm grey and soft stone tones, applied by hand in the ceramics studio at Mullan Village, County Monaghan, Ireland, with the swirling pattern varying naturally across every individual shade. The marbling is not printed or applied mechanically — it is achieved through a hand painting process that ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed to reflect the layered, organic quality of the stone and earth found in the landscape surrounding the village. The result is a shade with a depth and richness that grows on you over time.
Mullan Lighting was established in 2009 when architect Mike Treanor began restoring a 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, bringing craft, employment and purpose back to a settlement that had been largely abandoned for decades. The ceramics arm of the business was built to sustain the village's centuries old identity as a community of makers, and today over 100 craftspeople work in the studio producing lights made entirely to order for clients in more than 55 countries. The Ferox is among the most accessible pieces in the ceramic collection, offering that signature Mullan quality in a pendant that works across a wide range of interior settings.
