The Coco Wall Light in Red Iron brings the earthy warmth of one of Mullan's most characterful finishes to a compact, versatile wall light form. At 10cm tall and 10.5cm wide with a 19cm projection, it delivers genuine material depth and warmth on a wall at a scale that suits rooms of any size. The iron tones ranging from warm terracotta through to deeper rust and ochre are applied by hand at Mullan Village and fixed through firing, preserving natural variation from piece to piece. No two shades come out of the kiln looking identical, and that variation is exactly what gives this small wall light so much personality.

How It Works

The open ceramic shade faces outward and slightly downward, directing the G9 bulb's warmth across the wall and into the room. The red iron tones deepen and enrich in warm evening light. A warm white dimmable G9 LED is strongly recommended with this finish, the warmer colour temperature bringing out the deepest rust and ochre tones within the glaze and making the fitting feel genuinely alive at lower light levels.

Where It Works Best

The Red Iron Coco is a natural in bedrooms, living rooms and hallways where earthy warmth on a wall adds genuine character. Used as a pair either side of a bed it creates an intimate, warm bedside lighting arrangement that feels completely considered. In a smaller living room or hallway it adds material depth to the wall at exactly the level where it is most appreciated. The red iron finish pairs particularly well with antique brass, aged timber, terracotta tiles and warm woven textiles.

The Story Behind Mullan

Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. Ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed the red iron finish in direct response to the iron rich soils and weathered stone of the County Monaghan landscape. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass.

FAQs

What bulb does the Coco Wall Light take?
It takes a G9 capsule bulb, maximum 6.5W. Bulb not included. A warm white LED G9 is strongly recommended with the red iron finish. A dimmable version lets you make the most of the finish at lower light levels in the evening.

Will my wall light look exactly like the photo?
Close but not identical. The red iron finish is hand applied and fired so depth of colour and surface texture vary naturally between pieces. The tones will be consistent but the specific character of your piece will be its own.

Is this suitable for a bathroom?
The Coco Wall Light is IP20 rated and suitable for dry indoor areas only. It is not certified for bathroom wet zones. Please contact us if you need a bathroom rated wall light and we will advise.

Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable G9 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.

Can I return it?
No. Every Mullan light is made to order, so it cannot be returned unless it arrives faulty or damaged. If anything is wrong when it arrives, please contact us as soon as possible.
