Mullan Bog Oak Wall Light - Marbled with Finish Options

Marbled Ceramic: Timeless Pattern That Belongs on a Wall

The Bog Oak Wall Light in Marbled finish is a 28cm handmade ceramic fitting with the visual quality of natural stone and the warmth of hand worked clay. The swirling tones of cream, warm grey and soft stone are applied individually at Mullan Village before firing, which means the pattern is never reproduced identically from one piece to the next. Close up the surface reveals a genuine depth and complexity. From across the room it reads as a confident, quietly beautiful object that earns its place on the wall.

How It Works

The open ceramic shade faces outward and slightly downward, washing warm light across the wall and into the room. Without a glass shade the marbled ceramic does all the visual work, the tones reading differently in natural daylight than in warm evening light. A warm white dimmable E27 LED is recommended, giving full control over brightness and revealing the layered depth of the marbled surface most clearly at lower evening light levels.

Where It Works Best

The Marbled Bog Oak Wall Light is one of the most versatile in the range, working across dining rooms, bedrooms, living rooms and hallways with equal ease. The marbled finish sits naturally alongside natural stone surfaces, warm timber, aged brass and soft neutral textiles, and it has the kind of timeless quality that does not date. Used as a pair in a bedroom it creates a sophisticated bedside lighting arrangement of genuine visual quality.

The Story Behind Mullan

Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. Ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed the marbling technique by drawing on the layered stone and mineral textures of the Irish landscape surrounding the village. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass.

FAQs

What bulb does the Bog Oak Wall Light take?
It takes a standard E27 screw fit bulb, maximum 40W. Bulb not included. A warm white LED E27 suits the marbled finish well. A dimmable version lets you adjust the atmosphere in the room.

Will my wall light look exactly like the photo?
The marbling is hand painted so the pattern on your piece will differ from the photos. The tones will be consistent, cream, warm grey and natural stone, but the distribution is unique to every piece fired at Mullan Village.

Is this suitable for a bathroom?
The Bog Oak Wall Light is IP20 rated and suitable for dry indoor areas only, not certified for bathroom wet zones. Please contact us if you need a bathroom rated fitting and we will advise.

Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable E27 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.

Can I return it?
No. Every Mullan light is made to order, so it cannot be returned unless it arrives faulty or damaged. If anything is wrong when it arrives, please contact us as soon as possible.
