Mitzi Tara 2 Light Wall Sconce Light - Aged Brass

Tara does away with a shade altogether. Two straight steel arms in aged brass hold two narrow tube bulbs directly, so the light source itself is the visual feature rather than something hidden behind glass. It's an exposed, architectural fitting for anyone who likes the look of a bare bulb on display rather than tucked away.

Aged brass finish

The aged brass finish has a soft, burnished warmth that takes the edge off what could otherwise feel like a stark, plain steel shape. It reads particularly well against white or pale walls, where the warm metal and the two bulbs both stand out clearly, and it pairs naturally with brass or bronze mirror frames and door furniture elsewhere in the room.

How it works

Tara takes two E27 bulbs, each rated up to 75W, wired through an 18cm cable with a cord rated to VDE standards. The fixture stands 76cm tall and projects 9cm from the wall, on a round backplate 12cm in diameter, with each arm carrying its bulb 38cm up from the base of the fixture. Despite its height it weighs only 0.91kg in total, since there's no shade or glass to add weight.

Where it works best

Its open, vertical design suits spaces where the fixture is meant to be seen as well as used, either side of a dressing table mirror, flanking a bed head, or spaced along a hallway wall, anywhere two points of light work better as a pair than one central fitting.

Mitzi is a third generation lighting business, still run by the same family, based in New York's Hudson Valley. The name comes from the founder's grandmother, a painter and antique collector who had a knack for finding good pieces at a fair price, and the brand still leans on that idea: lighting with a genuinely distinctive look that doesn't have to sit in luxury territory to be worth having.
