Glass with a twist

The Cecily wall light is built around a cylindrical shade in fluted clear glass, its surface ridged so that light breaks and scatters along each groove rather than sitting flat. Both ends of the glass are cut on the diagonal, so instead of a plain tube you get a shape that reads as sculptural from any angle, whether it is fitted upright or turned onto its side.

Aged Brass finish

Here the frame is finished in Aged Brass, a warm, slightly weathered gold tone that already looks like it has a history to it. It sits comfortably against oak and walnut, brick, and warm neutral walls, and works equally well in a traditional hallway or a newly built home that wants a touch of period character.

How it works

This is the Large version of the Cecily, standing 24.75 inches tall and mounted from a compact 4.75 inch round backplate that projects 3.5 inches off the wall. It takes two E26 bulbs, each rated up to 75 watts and sold separately, and the fixing can be turned to hang vertically or horizontally depending on the space. It is also ADA compliant, so it suits settings where accessible design specifications need to be met.

Where it works best

The scale of the Large Cecily makes it a good match for spaces with a bit of height and distance to play with: either side of a hallway mirror, flanking a front door, above a console table, or spaced along a staircase wall. It reads well from across a room, so it is worth using where it will be seen at a distance rather than tucked into a tight corner.
