Mitzi Ariana 1 Light Wall Sconce Light - Aged Brass

Light that sits close to the wall

The Ariana wall sconce carries the same opal glass shade as the rest of the range, held here on a curved arm that projects out from a rectangular backplate. Rather than hanging free, the glass sits fixed against the wall, throwing a soft wash of light up and out rather than down onto a surface below. It is a single light fixture, sized for spots where a pendant or table lamp is not practical.

Aged brass finish

Finished in aged brass, this sconce has a muted, antique toned surface rather than a bright polished look, so the metal reads as settled and established rather than brand new. It sits comfortably alongside timber, stone and warm painted walls, and suits homes where the existing metalwork already leans brass, bronze or gold rather than chrome.

How it works

This wall sconce takes one A15 bulb on an E26 medium screw base at up to 40W (bulb not included). It measures approximately 46.5cm high and 17cm across, projecting 20cm out from the wall on its curved arm. The rectangular backplate behind it measures roughly 14cm by 11cm, and the whole fixture weighs around 1.4kg, light enough for a standard wall fixing.

Where it works best

As a fixed wall light, Ariana suits spots where floor and surface space are limited, such as either side of a hallway mirror, flanking a bed where there is no room for table lamps, or spaced along a landing or staircase wall to add light without taking up floor space. It also works well in pairs either side of a fireplace or headboard, where matching fittings add a sense of balance to the wall.

Mitzi sits within Hudson Valley Lighting Group, a family business that has now passed through three generations working out of New York's Hudson Valley. The collection is named for Mitzi, the founder's grandmother, whose background as a painter and antique collector gave her a sharp eye for finding something distinctive without paying over the odds.
