Mitzi Ariana 1 Light Small Pendant - Aged Brass

A gentle drop of light

The Ariana pendant is built around a single glossy opal glass shade, held in a curved holder that lets the glass sit just below it rather than inside a frame or cage. The shade has a soft teardrop shape, so the light it gives off is diffused and easy on the eye rather than a sharp point source. As a small pendant it suits tighter spots such as a run of fittings above a kitchen island, a single drop over a console table, or a pair beside a bed in place of table lamps.

Aged brass finish

The aged brass on this pendant has a warm, slightly worn quality rather than a mirror shine, so it reads more like old brass that has been lived with than a fresh lacquered fitting. It sits comfortably against darker paint colours, natural wood and warm neutrals, and pairs well with existing brass or bronze hardware elsewhere in the room.

How it works

This is a single light pendant, taking one A15 bulb on an E26 medium screw base at up to 60W (bulb not included). The fixture measures approximately 40.5cm high and 19cm across, with an 11.5cm canopy at the ceiling. It hangs from an adjustable cable that can be shortened or lengthened, giving up to around 3 metres of drop so the finished height can be set to suit the room. At roughly 1.9kg, it is a light fitting that most ceiling roses can carry without extra support.

Where it works best

Because it is a small pendant, Ariana tends to work best where a single fixture, or a few hung together, adds a focused pool of light rather than filling a whole room. Think a run of two or three over a kitchen island or breakfast bar, a single pendant dropped low over a side table in a hallway, or a pair flanking a bed in place of table lamps. Its compact scale also makes it a practical choice for smaller kitchens, snugs and landings where a larger fitting would feel out of proportion.

The range takes its name from the founder's grandmother Mitzi, a painter and antique collector who had a gift for spotting a well made piece at a fair price. That instinct still shapes the collection today, aiming for fittings with genuine design character that don't come with a luxury price tag attached.
