A Sculpted Ribbon of Light

Nur takes a single continuous strip of aluminium and curves it into a loose spiral around a round wall plate, with a frosted acrylic diffuser running the length of the ribbon so the whole shape glows evenly rather than showing a single point of light.

Choosing This Finish

This piece is finished in silver with polished chrome detailing at the point where the ribbon crosses the wall plate. Nur as a range also covers pendants, ceiling lights and table lamps in the same sculpted style, so this wall version works well used as a single accent or repeated in a pair either side of a doorway or mirror.

How It Works

Nur uses a 10W integrated LED built into the fitting, producing around 850lm of warm white light at 3000K with a colour rendering index of 80 and a 120 degree beam angle, so the light spreads broadly rather than in a tight spot. It is Class II, so it does not need an earth connection, and it carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor rooms only.

Where It Works Best

At 32cm tall with a 14.5cm width and a 17cm projection from the wall, Nur reads more as a piece of wall art than a conventional light, which suits a hallway, dining room or office wall where the sculptural shape can be seen clearly rather than tucked into a corner. It works best where you want a talking point rather than a bright, even wash of light.

Made By Mantra

Nur is a joint design from Jose L. Ballester and Santiago Sevillano, two of the named designers Mantra has worked with since building its Valencia based design team, and the same collaborative approach produced Sevillano's sculptural ORA collection in 2012. Mantra's own strength has always been this kind of creative, commercial design work rather than high end architectural engineering, and pieces like Nur, sold at a mid market price across more than 25 years of trading, are a fair example of that positioning in practice.

Questions People Ask

Can I change the bulb if it stops working?
No, the LED is integrated into the fitting rather than fitted as a separate bulb, so there is no bulb to swap out.

What colour is the light it gives off?
It gives a warm white glow at 3000K, closer to a traditional bulb than a cool daylight tone.

Does this need a special wiring setup?
No, it is Class II rated, so it does not need to be wired to earth, unlike some of Mantra's other wall lights.
