Niseko strips a pendant light back to a single idea, a glowing ring with no visible fittings inside it. In matte black, the metal band almost disappears against a dark ceiling by day, leaving just a clean circle of warm light once switched on in the evening. It is a quietly confident piece rather than a showy one.

Choosing Your Niseko II

This 50cm ring in matte black gives the strongest, most graphic outline in the range, working especially well against white ceilings or in rooms with other black accents such as window frames or door furniture. The same shape is also available in white, gold and a wood effect finish if you would rather match warmer tones elsewhere in the room, and in a smaller 38cm size if 50cm would sit too large for the space. Matching your ceiling height and existing metalwork to the finish is the easiest way to decide between them.

How It Works

A 40W integrated LED strip runs around the inside of the ring, producing 2950 lumens with a colour rendering index above 80 so skin tones and furnishings still look true under it. The supplied remote control switches between tuneable white settings from 2700K to 5000K, moving from a relaxed amber glow to a crisper white for reading or working. Three fine cables suspend the ring from a round black ceiling plate, with a maximum drop of 200cm to allow for higher or lower ceilings.

Where It Works Best

At 50cm across, this is the larger of the two Niseko II ring sizes, giving it enough presence to work as the main light over a dining table or in the centre of a living room. It also suits open plan spaces where a single striking fitting needs to hold its own visually, rather than disappearing among furniture and other lighting. Because the black finish reads quite graphically against a pale ceiling, it tends to work best as a focal point rather than a subtle, blend in fitting.

Questions People Ask

Will the black finish show dust or fingerprints more than other colours?
The matte black surface is no more prone to marking than the other finishes in the range, though as with any matte surface a soft cloth is best for cleaning rather than anything abrasive.

Can I dim this pendant with a standard dimmer switch?
Brightness and colour temperature are controlled through the supplied remote rather than a wall dimmer, so no separate dimmer switch is needed or recommended.

Is the 50cm size too big for a bedroom?
It can work well over a large bed or in a spacious bedroom, but if the room is on the smaller side the 38cm version will feel more in proportion.
