Flame is one of Mantra's more sculptural outdoor pieces, a tall curving column that looks as much like a piece of garden art as a light fitting. Standing 168cm high, it throws its four spotlights downward and outward from the top of the curve, giving a patio or deck corner a soft pool of light without a single visible bulb or wire on show.

A Single Weatherproof White

This floor lamp is finished in white epoxy coated metalwork paired with a high grade polyethylene body, and it comes in this one colourway. The plastic body is what gives Flame its distinctive tapering, twisted silhouette, a shape that would be far harder to achieve in painted metal, and the white finish keeps it looking clean against greenery or decking rather than competing with it.

How It Works

Four GU10 spotlights, each rated up to 5W with a 50mm reflector, sit at the head of the lamp, though the bulbs themselves are not supplied so you can choose your own colour temperature and beam angle. The fitting is wired to Class I standard, meaning it requires an earthed supply, and carries an IP44 rating, so it is built to cope with driving rain and splashes outdoors. Some simple assembly is required on arrival to get the curved sections and base correctly fitted together.

Where It Works Best

At 168cm tall on a 26cm square base, Flame is built to stand on its own rather than sit among furniture, making it a good fit for a patio corner, beside outdoor seating, or flanking a doorway onto a deck. Its height means it reads well from a distance across a garden, somewhere a low table lamp would get lost.
