A Tiny Stainless Steel Step Light for Walls and Steps
The LuxR Modux 2 Step Light is a very small low voltage step light, only 58mm across the flange. It casts a wash of light 5º below the flange lip and 10º above it, so it picks out the wall beside a tread, the tread itself, or the space above a doorway. This version is machined from marine grade 316 stainless steel.
Marine Grade 316 Stainless Steel
Stainless steel gives a bright, crisp finish that suits modern steps, rendered walls and stone. The light source is a replaceable 2 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus, so stonework and planting look true to colour.
Choose Your Colour Temperature
- 2200K: a very warm, candle like glow.
- 2700K and 3000K: warm white, a good all round choice.
- 4000K: a crisper neutral white.
How It Works
Recess the fitting into a 43.5mm cut out in a wall or step riser. It runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
Use it to light steps, to wash the wall next to a staircase, to mark a doorway, or as a wayfinder along a path. Fitted in a run, the small flanges look neat and repeat evenly. It is also available in Micro and M4.

What size hole do I need for the Modux 2 step light?
You need a 43.5mm cut out. The body is 41mm across and 62mm long, and the flange that sits on the surface is 58mm in diameter.
Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered electrician installs it.
Where does the light fall?
It gives a horizontal wash, 5º below the flange lip and 10º above it, so it lights the surface around the fitting rather than shining out into your eyes.
Is stainless steel suitable for outdoor steps?
Yes. This version is marine grade 316 stainless steel and the fitting is rated IP68, so it is designed for outdoor use.
Can I change the LED later?
Yes. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
