A Small Square Recessed Spotlight in Stainless Steel
The LuxR Modux 2 Square Recessed is a very small low voltage outdoor spotlight with a square flange that sits close to the surface it is fitted into. It is part of the compact Modux 2 range, and you can check the exact cut out size on the product spec before you drill or cut.
Marine Grade 316 Stainless Steel
This version is precision machined in marine grade 316 stainless steel, with a bright, clean flange that suits contemporary paving, decking and rendered walls. The light source is a 2 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus, so surfaces and planting look true to colour.
Choose Your Beam, Colour and Lens
- Beam: 26º is the narrowest beam and picks out a single feature, 36º is a little wider, and 74º spreads the light across a broader area.
- Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white that pairs well with the cool tone of stainless steel.
- Lens: clear gives the sharpest beam, while frosted softens the edges of the light.
How It Works
Cut the hole to the size shown on the spec, drop the body in and fix it in place so the flange sits flat. The fitting runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. Please check the product spec for the cable length. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
The square flange gives a tidy architectural edge, so this is a strong choice for modern gardens and clean lines. Stainless steel stays crisp and bright without ageing. Moonlight Design uses LuxR fittings in its own garden lighting designs and installations. The same design is also available as the M1 and M4.

Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered NICEIC electrician installs it.
