A Tiny Copper Pond Light with a Weighted Base
The LuxR Modux 1 Pond Light is a very small submersible spotlight for ponds and water features. The body is only 31mm across and 42mm long, and it sits on a weighted base so it stays where you put it. It is rated IP68 and can be submerged up to 9m.
Solid Copper That Ages Beautifully
This version is made from copper. Underwater and in the splash zone it gradually develops a soft natural patina, so it settles into the pond rather than standing out from it. The light source is a 1 watt Cree XPG-3 LED with a CRI of 90 plus, which helps plants, stone and fish look true to colour.
Choose Your Beam, Colour and Lens
- Beam: 30º is a narrow beam for picking out a single plant or rock, 53º is wider for a larger feature, and the oval beam stretches the light into a wider, flatter shape.
- Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
- Lens: clear gives the sharpest beam, while frosted softens the edges of the light.
How It Works
This pond light has a 12V integral driver built in, and comes with 3m of cable. It must be installed in parallel with a remote transformer. It is dimmable with a suitable transformer. The LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
Use it to light ponds, water features and the planting around them. Because it is so small, it is easy to hide among stones and pond plants. The same design is also available as the larger M2 and M4. Moonlight Design uses LuxR in its own garden lighting designs and installations.

How deep can the Modux 1 pond light go?
It is rated IP68 and is submersible up to 9m.
Do I need a separate driver?
No, the 12V driver is built in. It does need to be wired in parallel to a remote transformer. We recommend a registered electrician installs it.
Will the copper change colour in water?
Yes. Copper develops a natural patina over time, so the finish softens and darkens gradually. This is normal and part of its appeal.
Which beam angle should I choose?
Choose 30º to light a single plant or rock, 53º for a larger feature, and the oval beam for a broader, flatter wash.
Can I dim it?
Yes, when it is used with a suitable transformer.
