Teak and Polished Brass, Built to Age Gracefully

The Tectona pairs a smooth teak wood column with a polished brass mounting base and six polished brass louvres, giving it a warmer, more natural look than a typical metal or resin bollard. Those louvres are more than decorative: angled correctly, they shield the bulb and the head's fixing bolts while still letting light spill down and outward.

Choosing your mounting

Decide how the Tectona will stand. Take the fitting on its own for surface mounting to an existing hard base, add the root mount kit for its J bolts, which fix securely into wet concrete, or choose the ground spike kit, which uses a large four fin spike for pushing into soft ground.

How it works

Behind the louvres sits a white polycarbonate diffuser lit by a single E14 bulb, maximum 9W, which you supply yourself. Wired in parallel on a standard 230 to 240V mains supply, the Tectona needs no separate driver and is rated IP55 for outdoor use.

Where it works best

The natural grain of teak suits gardens and courtyards where you want the lighting to feel like part of the planting rather than an obviously man made object. As it ages, the timber weathers to a soft, silvery grey, a normal part of how teak behaves outdoors rather than a fault, and a teak sealer is recommended from time to time to help protect it further.

Questions People Ask

Will the wood change colour over time?
Yes. Teak naturally weathers to a soft grey as it ages. This happens slowly and doesn't affect the strength of the post.

Which mounting option should I choose?
Surface mount suits an existing hard base, the root mount kit is for setting into wet concrete, and the ground spike kit is for fixing directly into soil.

Does it come with a bulb?
No. It takes a single E14 bulb, maximum 9W, sold separately.
