The Lumena Cosmic Orion 12V Festoon range runs on low voltage power, which means it needs a transformer to step mains electricity down safely. This Plug and Play transformer is built specifically for that job, with waterproof connectors that make adding power straightforward rather than a wiring project.

Choosing Your Transformer

The right size depends on how many Orion sets you are running together. The 10w version suits 1 to 2 sets, the 20w version suits 3 to 5 sets, and the 50w version is built for 6 sets, with all three including a 3m output cable as standard.

How It Works

Once connected, the transformer converts 230 to 240V mains power down to a 12V AC output through waterproof Plug and Play connectors, so there is no wiring to carry out yourself. For the best results and the longest life from the unit, we recommend loading it to no more than 90% of its rated capacity, with performance at its best somewhere between 66% and 85% of that capacity.

Where It Works Best

Anywhere you are running Cosmic Orion 12V Festoon Lights from the mains rather than solar power, whether that is a permanent garden installation or a longer term entertaining space. The transformer housing itself is IP68 rated, but the UK plug end needs to sit indoors or within a suitable waterproof outdoor socket, and the unit should never be fully submerged in water.
