The Wimbledon XL Pendant is the largest shade in the Wimbledon range, an elliptic body of hand blown glass that is 350mm wide and 370mm high. It is a statement size, wide enough to dominate a space, and it is meant to be seen with the bulb on show: Leverint pairs the Wimbledon with a globe, pear or tube shaped bulb, and in the clear glass the lamp sits in the middle of the shade like an object in a display case. Please check the width against your table or island before ordering, because one XL covers a lot of ceiling. Every shade is shaped by hand in Leverint's London studio. The colour and texture of your pendant may vary slightly from the photos, because the glass is blown by hand and the metal is plated by hand, and screens show colour differently from one device to another.

Choose Your Finish

Each Wimbledon XL Pendant is made to order in your choice of hand blown glass, plated metal finish and fabric flex colour, chosen from the swatches and dropdowns above on this page. In the XL size the glass comes in clear or ribbed: the clear shade is smooth and see through, while the ribbed one has broad vertical ribs that gather the light into soft stripes and finish in a scalloped lower edge. Leverint plates the metalwork in polished brass, brushed brass, weathered brass, bronze, polished nickel or satin nickel, and the fabric sleeved flex comes in charcoal, whisky, slate grey, linen, coffee or khaki. How It Works

The Wimbledon XL takes one E27 bulb, up to 40W, which is not supplied as standard. You can add Leverint's G125 LED filament bulb, a large globe lamp, from the dropdown above, or choose no bulb and fit your own. A low wattage LED bulb is the sensible choice inside glass. The pendant is mains dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer switch and dimmable bulb. It hangs from a 65mm ceiling rose on a fabric sleeved flex with a 1 metre drop as standard. As a hardwired ceiling fitting, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, ideally one who is NICEIC registered.

Where It Works Best

Leverint suggests the Wimbledon for kitchen islands, counters and dining tables, and the XL is the version for a big table or a generous island where smaller shades would need to be hung in a long row. One or two XL pendants can carry a dining table or island on their own, and a single XL also works as a focal point in a stairwell, a hallway or a living room with a high ceiling. The clear glass keeps sight lines open, so it does not close in a room the way a solid shade of the same size would.

Made By Leverint

Leverint is a hand blown glass lighting studio based in Enfield, London, where each shade is shaped by hand rather than cast in a mould. The studio says it draws on more than a century of glassblowing experience through its parent company, G Farley and Sons, and its founders bring decades of lighting design and glass artistry to every piece. A shade of this size has to be blown thin and even across a wide curve, which is where that hand skill shows.
