An Elegant Oval of Hand Blown Glass
The Victoria Table Lamp has a slim, elongated oval glass body that curves out from a narrow neck at the top, swells to its widest point at the middle and narrows again towards a small plated metal disc at the foot. A slim metal stem runs up through the centre of the glass to the lamp holder. The sweeping outline is hand blown in Leverint's London studio and looks as good on a desk as it does on a bedside table or a console. Please note that the fabric shade shown in the photos is not included, so you can pair the base with a shade of your own choosing.
Choose Your Glass and Metal Finish
Each lamp is made to order in your choice of hand blown glass and plated metal finish, chosen from the swatches above when you order. The glass comes clear, ribbed, fine ribbed, transparent black or opaque white, and the ribbed twist and fine ribbed twist textures, which spiral diagonally up the oval, are available as an upgrade. The photos show each glass on one metal finish only, so use the swatches to see the full range. Leverint plates the metalwork in polished brass, brushed brass, weathered brass, bronze, polished nickel or satin nickel. Because the glass is blown by hand and the metal is plated by hand, the colour and texture of your lamp may vary slightly from the photos, and screens show colour differently from one device to another. How It Works
The lamp takes one E27 bulb. It is not supplied with one as standard, but you can add Leverint's T45 LED filament bulb from the dropdown above, or choose no bulb and fit your own. Leverint lists a 40W maximum on its technical sheet, and a low wattage LED filament bulb is the sensible choice inside glass. It comes with 1.5 metres of fabric sleeved flex and an inline switch, so it is a plug in lamp: unpack it, add a bulb and a shade, and plug it in. The inline switch is on and off only, so the lamp is not dimmable as supplied. If you ever want the lamp rewired or connected to anything other than the supplied switch, have that work carried out by a qualified electrician.
Where It Works Best
With a glass body 150mm across at its widest, a 120mm base and a height of 375mm to the top of the lamp holder, this is a medium sized table lamp that does not take up much surface. Leverint describes it as suited to work, living and leisure spaces, and it works on a home office desk, a bedside table, a hallway console or a side table next to a sofa. The slim oval shape suits a pair on matching tables, and the ribbed and twisted glass options let the bulb light catch the glass as well as glow through the shade above.
Made By Leverint
Leverint is a hand blown glass lighting studio based in Enfield, London, where each piece of glass is shaped by hand rather than cast in a mould. The studio says it draws on more than a century of glassblowing experience through its parent company, G Farley and Sons. A smooth, swelling shape like the Victoria's oval is a good example of what blowing glass by hand allows, because the curve is formed in the glass itself rather than assembled from parts.
