A Long Bar of Ribbed Glass and Soft Light
The Temple Rod Pendant Medium is a single hand blown glass bar, lit from within by an integrated LED strip and hung level from two slim rods. Leverint describes it as commanding, multi stream lighting at its most prestigious, and the length is what makes it so. This is a large, heavy fitting: the Medium is 1000mm long and weighs approximately 6.65kg, so please check it against your island, table or ceiling before you order. Hung low over a surface, it reads as one clean horizontal line of light rather than a cluster of separate lamps.
Choose Your Finish
Each pendant is made to order in your choice of hand blown glass and plated metal finish, chosen from the swatches and dropdowns above on this page. The glass comes in ribbed or fine ribbed, and the photos show both, with the ribbed glass giving bolder lines along the length of the bar and the fine ribbed glass a much softer, more even look. Leverint plates the rods and ceiling fittings in polished brass, brushed brass, weathered brass, bronze, polished nickel or satin nickel, so you can match it to the rest of your scheme. You can also choose the colour of the light from the dropdown above: 2700K warm, 3000K warm white or 4000K natural white. Because the glass is blown by hand and the metal is plated by hand, the colour and texture of your pendant may vary slightly from the photos, and screens show colour differently from one device to another. If you are unsure about a finish before ordering, please call our customer service team.
How It Works
The light source is an integrated LED linear strip, rated at 15W and 24V, inside the glass, so there is no bulb to buy or change. The strip runs from an external driver, which Leverint's technical sheet says is to be concealed within the ceiling cavity, and it can be dimmed from the wall with a mains dimmer pack, so the light can go from a bright working glow to a low evening one. Leverint asks customers to contact them for guidance on installing the driver. This is a hardwired ceiling fitting, and we recommend installation by a qualified electrician, ideally one who is NICEIC registered. The overall drop is made to specification, with up to 1000mm as standard, so it can be set to suit your ceiling height.
Where It Works Best
At 1000mm, the Medium is the shortest of the three Temple rod sizes, which makes it a good match for a smaller kitchen island, a round or square dining table, or a long console in a hallway. Hung centrally and low enough to feel part of the room, it gives even light along a work surface without a row of separate pendants. Leverint also makes the Temple Rod Pendant in Large at 1200mm and XL at 1500mm, if your table or island is longer.
Made By Leverint
Leverint is a hand blown glass lighting studio based in Enfield, London, where each piece of glass is shaped by hand rather than cast in a mould. The studio says it draws on more than a century of glassblowing experience through its parent company, G Farley and Sons, and its founders bring decades of lighting design and glass artistry to every pendant. A glass bar a metre long with even ribs along its full length shows how much control that takes.
