A Slim Bell Jar of Hand Blown Glass

The Richmond Small Pendant is a tall, slender bell jar shade with a softly domed top and a straight, open sided body, hand blown in Leverint's London studio and hung on a fabric sleeved cable. Leverint describes the Richmond as a blend of subtle edges and traditional bell jar design, and the Small is its narrowest form at just 100mm wide and 260mm high. It is a good choice where you want height and a slim profile rather than width. Some of the photos show the larger Medium size and groups of pendants, so please use the measurements on this page to judge scale.

Choose Your Finish

Each pendant is made to order in your choice of hand blown glass, plated metal finish and fabric flex colour, chosen from the swatches and dropdowns above on this page. The photos show the shade in clear and finely ribbed textured glass, and Leverint also blows it in ribbed, transparent black and opaque white, with ribbed twist and fine ribbed twist textures available as an upgrade. The metalwork can be finished in polished brass, brushed brass, weathered brass, bronze, polished nickel or satin nickel, and the cable comes in charcoal, whisky, slate grey, linen, coffee or khaki. Because the glass is blown by hand and the metal is plated by hand, the colour and texture of your pendant may vary slightly from the photos, and screens show colour differently from one device to another. How It Works

The pendant hangs on 1 metre of fabric sleeved cable as standard and takes one E14 bulb of up to 40W. A bulb is not supplied as standard, but you can add Leverint's T20 LED filament bulb from the dropdown above, or choose no bulb and fit your own. Leverint lists the Richmond as mains dimmable, so it will work with a compatible dimmer switch and dimmable bulb. The ceiling rose is 65mm across. As a hardwired ceiling fitting, it should always be installed by a qualified electrician, ideally one who is NICEIC registered.

Where It Works Best

Leverint suggests the Richmond for residential and commercial settings alike. In the home, the narrow Small works well where space is tight, such as either side of a bed, over a slim console, in a hallway or at the end of a run of cabinets. Hung in a row at staggered heights it forms a tidy line of glass over a kitchen island, as in several of the photos, and the ribbed textures break the light into soft vertical lines.

Made By Leverint

Leverint is a hand blown glass lighting studio based in Enfield, London, where every shade is shaped by hand rather than cast from a mould. The studio says it draws on more than a century of glassblowing experience through its parent company G Farley and Sons. Each Richmond shade is shaped by hand, so small differences from one piece to the next are part of how it is made.
