The Orcadian Medium Pendant wraps a single bulb in a hand blown glass shade shaped like a beehive, its surface ringed with soft horizontal ribs that taper down to a rounded point. The ribbing catches and scatters the light rather than letting it sit as one flat glow, giving the room a warm, textured pool of light.

The Orcadian Medium Pendant ships in your choice of hand blown glass and plated metal finish, chosen when you order. These photos show it in clear glass on a satin nickel finish, but Leverint blows the same beehive shade in ribbed, fine ribbed, transparent black and opaque white glass too, and plates the fitting in polished brass, brushed brass, weathered brass, bronze or polished nickel, so you can match it to the rest of your scheme.

How It Works

It takes a single E27 bulb, up to 40W, which is not supplied as standard, so you can choose the warmth and style of bulb yourself. It's mains dimmable, so it will work with a compatible dimmer switch and dimmable bulb if you want to bring the light down for evenings. The glass shade measures 170mm in diameter and 260mm in height, and hangs on 1 metre of fabric sleeved cable as standard. As a hardwired ceiling fitting, it should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Its compact size makes it a natural fit for a kitchen, whether hung singly over a breakfast bar or in a line above a kitchen island, and it works just as well as a softer point of light in a living room, bedroom or dining room. Made By Leverint

Leverint is a hand blown glass lighting studio based in Enfield, London, where every shade is shaped by hand rather than cast from a mould. The studio says it draws on more than a century of glassblowing experience through its parent company G Farley and Sons, and its founders Andrew Print, John Leveridge and Lee Rowland bring decades of combined lighting design and glass artistry to each piece they make.
