A Hand Blown Glass Globe On A Slender Stem
The Marble Floor Lamp is a single hand blown glass globe resting on a flat plated metal disc at the top of a very slim stem, with a round metal base at the floor. It is a light, graceful floor lamp that lets the glass do all the work, with nothing between the bulb and the room except a thin shell of ribbed, twisted or opaque glass. Every globe is hand blown in Leverint's London studio, so it makes a sculptural note beside a sofa, in a hallway or in a quiet corner. It is also a tall fitting, standing 1450mm high with a 230mm globe on a 250mm wide base, and it weighs approximately 7.5kg, so please check the height against your space before ordering.
Choose Your Glass and Metal Finish
Each lamp is made to order in your choice of hand blown glass and plated metal finish, chosen from the swatches above when you order. The photos show the globe in ribbed, fine ribbed and opaque white glass, as well as the ribbed twist and fine ribbed twist textures, which are available as an upgrade. Leverint plates the metalwork in polished brass, brushed brass, weathered brass, bronze, polished nickel or satin nickel, so you can match it to the rest of your scheme. Because the glass is blown by hand and the metal is plated by hand, the colour and texture of your lamp may vary slightly from the photos, and screens show colour differently from one device to another. If you are unsure about a finish before ordering, please call our customer service team.
How It Works
The lamp takes one G9 bulb. It is not supplied with one as standard, but you can add Leverint's G9 LED filament bulb from the dropdown above, or choose no bulb and fit your own. Leverint's technical sheet lists a 40W maximum, while its product page lists 8W for an LED bulb, so a low wattage LED bulb is the sensible choice inside glass. It is supplied with 1.5 metres of fabric sleeved flex and an inline switch, so you add a bulb and plug it in. The inline switch is on and off only, so the lamp is not dimmable as supplied. If you ever want the lamp rewired or connected to anything other than the supplied switch, have that work carried out by a qualified electrician.
Where It Works Best
Leverint suggests the Marble Floor Lamp for living rooms, hallways and other living spaces. Because the stem is so slim, it takes up very little floor space beyond its 250mm base, which suits a corner beside an armchair, the end of a sofa or a hallway where a bulkier lamp would crowd the room. The ribbed and twisted glass options break the bulb's light into soft lines, while the opaque white glass gives a gentler, more even glow, so you can choose how much sparkle you want at eye level.
Made By Leverint
Leverint is a hand blown glass lighting studio based in Enfield, London, where each piece of glass is shaped by hand rather than cast in a mould. The studio says it draws on more than a century of glassblowing experience through its parent company, G Farley and Sons, and its founders bring decades of lighting design and glass artistry to every lamp. A round globe is a good test of that skill, because the walls have to be blown evenly all the way round.
