A Soft Teardrop Shade on a Plated Arm
The Kingston Wall Light hangs a rounded teardrop of hand blown glass from a curved plated metal arm and round backplate, with a stepped collar at the top of the shade. Leverint describes it as a dynamic hand blown glass fitting with soft, modern light, and says it can be styled solo or as a multiple arrangement. The shade is 150mm wide and 200mm tall and the whole fitting stands 285mm tall with a 180mm projection, so it has a generous, friendly shape without being large.
Choose Your Finish
Each light is made to order in your choice of hand blown glass and plated metal finish, chosen from the swatches and dropdowns above on this page when you order. The photos show the shade in clear, ribbed, fine ribbed, transparent black and opaque white glass, as well as the ribbed twist and fine ribbed twist textures, which are available as an upgrade. Leverint plates the arm and backplate in polished brass, brushed brass, weathered brass, bronze, polished nickel or satin nickel, so you can match it to the rest of your scheme. Because the glass is blown by hand and the metal is plated by hand, the colour and texture of your light may vary slightly from the photos, and screens show colour differently from one device to another. If you are unsure about a finish before ordering, please call our customer service team.
How It Works
The light takes one E14 bulb, up to 40W. It is not supplied with a bulb as standard, but you can add Leverint's T20 LED filament bulb from the dropdown above, or choose no bulb and fit your own. A filament bulb is visible through the clear glass, and shows as a soft glow through the ribbed options. Leverint lists the fitting as mains dimmable, so it can be dimmed when it is wired to a compatible dimmer switch and fitted with a dimmable bulb. The arm projects 180mm from the wall. This is a hardwired fitting, and we recommend having it installed by a qualified electrician, ideally NICEIC registered.
Where It Works Best
The rounded shade suits a bedside wall, a hallway, a landing or the space beside a dining table. Because Leverint says it can be styled as a multiple arrangement, a line of three or four Kingstons spaced evenly along a long wall works well, as does a matching pair either side of a bed or a mirror. Transparent black gives a smoky, moody look, while clear and ribbed glass keep things light and airy.
Made By Leverint
Leverint is a hand blown glass lighting studio based in Enfield, London, where each piece of glass is shaped by hand rather than cast in a mould. The studio says it draws on more than a century of glassblowing experience through its parent company, G Farley and Sons. A smooth teardrop with an even wall from shoulder to base is a shape that rewards a practised hand.
