A Broad Glass Box With Real Wall Presence

The Chelsea Large Wall Lantern is a wide, box shaped lantern with glass panels set in a mitred metal frame, so the bulb glows from the front and the sides. Leverint rates it IP44 and describes it as suited to outdoors, bathrooms or interiors. This is a substantial wall fitting, measuring 220mm wide, 370mm high and 140mm deep and weighing about 5kg, so it makes a confident statement beside a front door or on a larger wall. If your wall is narrow, the Small and Tall sizes are slimmer at 150mm wide.

Choose Your Metalwork and Bulb

Each lantern is made to order, with the metalwork finish chosen from the swatches above on this page when you order. Leverint offers antique black, bronze and pewter. The studio photo shows the Large in antique black with a lit tube filament bulb, and the wall photos show the Chelsea range outdoors on stone, so you can judge how the frame and glass look in daylight. Because every lantern is hand crafted, the colour and texture of your lantern may vary slightly from the photos, and screens show colour differently from one device to another. How It Works

The lantern takes one E27 LED bulb. It is not supplied with one as standard, but you can add Leverint's T32 LED filament bulb from the dropdown above, or choose no bulb and fit your own. Leverint lists it as mains dimmable, so a compatible dimmer switch and a dimmable bulb will let you lower the light in the evening. It is mounted flat to the wall, with the cable entry hole in the wall plate centred horizontally and vertically. Because this is a hardwired wall fitting of around 5kg, we recommend that it is installed by a qualified electrician, ideally one who is NICEIC registered.

Where It Works Best

The Large suits places where a bigger lantern will not look out of scale: a generous porch, the wall beside a garage or double door, a patio wall or a wide hallway. Leverint suggests the range for outdoors, bathrooms and interiors, so it can also work in a bathroom with room for a wider fitting. A matching pair either side of an entrance frames it nicely.

Leverint is a hand blown glass lighting studio based in Enfield, London, and every Chelsea lantern is made to order in the UK. The studio says it draws on more than a century of glassblowing experience through its parent company, G Farley and Sons. On the Chelsea, that experience sits alongside an engineered metal frame with crisp mitred corners.
