A Diamond Shaped Glass Body On A Slim Metal Stem

The Canary Table Lamp has a hand blown glass body with a diamond inspired profile, widest at the middle and tapering towards the lamp holder above and the small plated metal disc below. A slim metal stem runs up through the centre of the glass, which keeps the shape crisp rather than heavy. At just 145mm wide it is slim enough for a bedside table, a hallway console or a side table in the living room, and each body is hand blown by Leverint. Please note that the fabric shade shown in the photos is not included, so you can pair the base with a shade of your own choosing.

Choose Your Glass and Metal Finish

Each lamp is made to order in your choice of hand blown glass and plated metal finish, chosen from the swatches above when you order. The photos show the base in ribbed, fine ribbed, clear and transparent black glass, all with polished brass metalwork. Leverint plates the metalwork in polished brass, brushed brass, weathered brass, bronze, polished nickel or satin nickel, so you can match it to the rest of your scheme. Because the glass is blown by hand and the metal is plated by hand, the colour and texture of your lamp may vary slightly from the photos, and screens show colour differently from one device to another. How It Works

The lamp takes one E27 bulb. It is not supplied with one as standard, but you can add Leverint's T45 LED filament bulb from the dropdown above, or choose no bulb and fit your own. Leverint lists a 40W maximum on its technical sheet and gives 8W LED on its product page, so a low wattage LED filament bulb is the right choice inside glass. It is supplied with 1.5 metres of round silk covered flex and an inline switch, so there is nothing to install: unpack it, add a bulb and a shade, and plug it in. The standard inline switch is on and off only. Leverint can supply a dimmable version on request, so please ask before ordering if you want one. If you ever want the lamp rewired or connected to anything other than the supplied switch, have that work carried out by a qualified electrician.

Where It Works Best

With a 145mm wide glass body and a height of 325mm to the top of the lamp holder, this is a slim, compact table lamp. Leverint suggests it for hallway console tables and for lounge and bedroom side tables, where the diamond shaped glass gives a small surface something to look at. A matching pair on either side of a bed or a console works well, and the ribbed and fine ribbed glass options break the light from the bulb into fine lines as well as letting it glow through the shade above.

Leverint is a hand blown glass lighting studio based in Enfield, London, where each piece of glass is shaped by hand rather than cast in a mould. The studio says it draws on more than a century of glassblowing experience through its parent company, G Farley and Sons, and its founders bring decades of lighting design and glass artistry to every lamp. A pointed, symmetrical shape like the Canary's diamond is a good test of that skill, because the glass has to be shaped evenly on both sides of the widest point.

No. The Leverint Canary Table Lamp is sold as a base only, and the cream drum shade shown in the photos is not included. It has a standard E27 lamp holder, so a drum or empire shade of your own choice can be fitted to it.
