The Canary Medium Pendant is the taller of the two Canary sizes, a diamond shaped glass shade that widens to a point and then narrows again, with straight parallel ribs running the full length of the glass. Leverint says the Canary showcases parallel lines and soothing light. The shade measures 250mm wide and 340mm high, so it has real presence over a table or in a stairwell without being a huge fitting.

Each pendant is made to order in your choice of hand blown glass and plated metal finish, chosen from the options above when you order. The photos show the Canary in clear ribbed glass with a silver toned metal fitting and grey fabric flex. Because the glass is blown by hand and the metal is plated by hand, the colour and texture of your pendant may vary slightly from the photos, and screens show colour differently from one device to another. How It Works

The pendant takes one E27 bulb, up to 40W, and is not supplied with one. Leverint lists it as dimmable using mains dimming, so it will work with a compatible dimmer switch and a dimmable bulb. It hangs on a standard 1 metre drop of fabric sleeved flex from a ceiling rose 65mm across and 37mm deep, and Leverint can supply a longer length if you enquire. As a hardwired ceiling fitting, we recommend that it is installed by a qualified electrician, ideally one who is NICEIC registered.

Where It Works Best

This size is a good fit over a dining table, a kitchen island or the well of a staircase, where the height of the glass can be seen. A pair side by side makes a symmetrical feature above a console or a bed, and a trio at staggered heights fills a larger room. Leverint describes the Canary as suited to contemporary and modern settings, and the long ribs on clear glass turn the bulb into a column of fine lines.

Made By Leverint

Leverint is a hand blown glass lighting studio based in Enfield, London, where every shade is shaped by hand rather than cast from a mould. The studio says it draws on more than a century of glassblowing experience through its parent company, G Farley and Sons. On a longer shade like this one the ribs have to stay straight and even from top to bottom, which is a good test of the glassmaker's hand.
