The Fold Comes Down to the Tabletop
A tabletop version of Lamella, designed by Hallgeir Homstvedt and Jonah Takagi in 2022, bringing the curved, pleated shade down to a compact base in the same black lacquered metal and aluminium finish as the floor lamp.
How it works
It stands 55cm tall with a 21cm diameter shade, on an E14 fitting with a maximum recommended 10W LED (bulb not included), and runs from a flat, black, 187cm mains cable to a plug.
Where it works best
Its scale suits a bedside table or a desk where a softer, diffused light is preferred over a direct task lamp.
Made By Le Klint
This shade's curved pleat traces back to around 1900, when P.V. Jensen-Klint hand folded a petroleum lamp shade, taking inspiration from Japanese origami. The fold became a family craft, passed down and refined until Tage Klint formally founded Le Klint in 1943, a year after Esben Klint had designed the Model 107. That heritage of hand pleating continues today in the company's Odense workshop, where new folders spend around a year learning the technique and a further two to three years mastering it before folding shades like this one.
