The Fold Rises on a Floor Stand
The floor standing version of Lamella, designed by Hallgeir Homstvedt and Jonah Takagi in 2022, carries the curved, pleated shade on a tall stand finished in sleek black lacquered metal with aluminium detailing.
How it works
It stands 150cm tall with a 46cm diameter shade, on an E27 fitting with a maximum recommended 20W LED (bulb not included), and runs from a flat, black, 260cm mains cable to a plug.
Where it works best
Its height and diffused, curved shade suit a reading corner, beside a sofa, or as a freestanding accent in a living room.
Made By Le Klint
Le Klint has been hand pleating paper and fabric shades since around 1900, when founder P.V. Jensen-Klint folded a petroleum lamp shade at home, inspired by Japanese origami. The technique stayed a family pursuit for decades before Tage Klint formally established Le Klint as a company in 1943, the year after Esben Klint designed the Model 107. The Lamella shade on this floor lamp is still folded by hand in the company's workshop in Odense today; it takes a new folder around a year to learn the fold and a further two to three years to master it fully.
