A Fold Borrowed From Mushroom Gills
Lamella takes its fold from an unexpected place: the curved gills on the underside of a mushroom cap. Designed by Hallgeir Homstvedt and Jonah Takagi in 2017, it uses Le Klint's older "Plica" pleating technique to keep the fold close to that natural, curved form rather than the sharper cross pleat used elsewhere in the collection.
Black, gold or silver
The pleated standard foil shade sits on metal fittings finished in black, gold or silver, letting the same silhouette read quite differently depending on finish.
How it works
It stands 52cm high with a 30cm diameter, on an E27 fitting with a maximum recommended 20W LED (bulb not included), and hangs on 300cm of round, white cord. We'd recommend a qualified electrician fits any hardwired ceiling pendant.
Where it works best
Its curved, gilled fold works well as a single pendant over a dining table or desk, where the underside of the shade is visible and shows off the pleat.
Made By Le Klint
Le Klint's pleating tradition goes back to around 1900, when architect P.V. Jensen-Klint folded a paper shade for a petroleum lamp, drawing on the folded forms of Japanese origami. What began as a family craft was formalised in 1943, when his son Tage Klint founded Le Klint as a company, a year after Esben Klint had designed the folded Model 107 that remains part of the collection today. Each Lamella shade is still hand pleated at the workshop in Odense, where new folders typically spend around a year learning the technique and two to three years more before they can work unsupervised.

What bulb does the 133 Lamella need?
It takes a single E27 fitting, with a maximum recommended 20W LED, around 800 lumens. No bulb is included.
Can I hang it in a bathroom?
No. It's rated IP20 and Class II, so it's designed for dry indoor rooms only, not bathrooms or other damp spaces.
Can the cord be shortened?
Yes. It comes with 300cm of white cord, which can be adjusted to hang at a shorter drop.
