A Globe Shaped Outdoor Chain Lantern in Black
The Kichler Vandalia Small Chain Lantern is a round hanging lantern for sheltered outdoor spaces. A clear seeded glass globe is held inside a cage of slim black hoops, and a loop at the top hangs it from a length of chain. It takes the shape of a classic carriage lantern and rounds it off into something softer and more modern.
Textured Black Finish
The finish is a matt textured black with a fine grain, so it looks like cast metal rather than glossy paint. It shows up crisp against the clear glass and stays neutral against painted walls, timber and stone. The matching black chain and ceiling plate keep the whole drop looking tidy.
How It Works
- One E27 lamp holder, suited to an LED bulb (not supplied)
- Dimmable with a dimmable LED bulb and a compatible dimmer
- Steel cage frame around a seeded glass globe
- Hangs on a chain, with an overall height that adjusts from 49.4cm to 231.5cm
- Rated IP44, protected against splashing water for covered outdoor use
- Class I electrical fitting, which needs an earth connection
A vintage style filament bulb looks very good in the open globe.
Where It Works Best
Hang one in a covered porch, a veranda, a pergola or a loggia, or a trio at different heights over an outdoor dining table. It is a pendant, so it needs a ceiling or soffit above it, ideally with some cover from the weather. Under an overhang it makes a calm, warm pool of light over a doorstep or seating area.
Made By Kichler

Questions People Ask
Can it be left out in the rain?
It has an IP44 rating, which covers splashing water, so hang it somewhere covered, such as a porch, veranda or pergola with a roof, rather than in open weather.
How much chain does it have?
The overall height can be set anywhere from 49.4cm to 231.5cm, so it suits low and high ceilings alike.
Is the guarantee valid by the sea?
The 3 year guarantee covers paint corrosion on the steel, but not locations within 5 miles of the coastline. Coastal homes should bear that in mind.
What size bulb do I need?
One E27 LED bulb. Choose a dimmable one if you want to dim it. The bulb is not supplied.
