A Clean Lined Outdoor Wall Lantern With An Opal Glass Glow
The Kichler South Hope Medium Wall Lantern is an outdoor wall light with a rectangular open frame, a loop handle on top and a tall cylinder of satin etched opal glass at its heart. There is no heavy ornament here. The look is simple and upright, which lets the glow do the work. It suits modern houses, farmhouse style porches and everything in between.
Oil Rubbed Bronze Finish
This version is oil rubbed bronze, a deep, dark brown with a gentle, hand worn look and light touches of highlight along the edges. The dark frame stands out well against pale render, painted cladding and light stone, and it blends in comfortably with dark timber and brick. The opal glass, in contrast, shines soft and creamy.
How It Works
- One E27 lamp holder, suited to an LED bulb (bulb not supplied)
- Works with a dimmer if you choose a dimmable LED bulb
- Aluminium frame with a satin etched glass cylinder
- Fixes to the wall through a flat back plate
- Rated IP44, so it is protected against splashing water for sheltered outdoor use
- Class I electrical fitting, which needs an earth connection
The glass diffuses the bulb, so even a bright LED gives a gentle, welcoming light.
Where It Works Best
A pair either side of the front door looks neat and welcoming, as shown in the product photographs. It also suits garage doors, patio entrances, side gates and the walls of a covered outdoor kitchen or terrace. This medium size is a good fit where you want presence without overpowering the door.
Made By Kichler
In 1938 Leonard Kichler started making lighting in Cleveland, Ohio, and the business he founded has gone on to become a well known name in American outdoor fittings. Today Kichler works from Solon, Ohio. South Hope reflects its more modern side, with straight lines and a quiet finish.

Questions People Ask
How big is the medium South Hope?
It stands 45.1cm tall including the handle, is 16.6cm wide and sticks out 19.6cm from the wall.
Will it suit a modern house?
Yes. The upright frame and plain opal glass look at home on contemporary homes, but the handle and the dark finish also keep it friendly enough for a traditional front door.
Can it go in an exposed spot?
It is IP44 rated, which covers splashing water, so it is happiest on a porch or a wall with some shelter. Under an overhang is ideal.
Can I use a dimmer?
Yes, as long as you use a dimmable E27 LED bulb with a compatible dimmer.
