A Medium Outdoor Wall Lantern With Caged Seeded Glass
The Kichler Royal Marine Medium Wall Lantern is an outdoor wall light with a ship's lamp look. A tall cylinder of seeded glass sits inside two protective bands and a central bar, with a scalloped base and a flared top. A swan neck arm swings the lantern away from a long, rectangular back plate. The medium size is the one you notice from the street.
Distressed Black Finish
The finish is distressed black, a dark, flat charcoal speckled with small pale flecks, so the surface looks like old painted cast iron. It stays quiet against the clear glass and works well on stone, brick, painted render and dark cladding. Because the speckling is part of the finish, small marks from weather will hardly show.
How It Works
- One E27 lamp holder, suited to an LED bulb (not supplied)
- Dimmable with a dimmable LED bulb and a compatible dimmer
- Steel body and cage with a seeded glass shade
- Rated IP44, protected against splashing water for sheltered outdoor use
- Class I electrical fitting, which needs an earth connection
The glass is large enough to show a filament style bulb off well.
Where It Works Best
At 46.2cm tall this is a good front door size. Use one on each side of an entrance, a row along a patio wall or one on a garage. In the photos it appears along a stone terrace, where several of them mark out the whole length of a building. It is happy on a country cottage or a contemporary house with black windows.
