A Traditional Chain Lantern With Colonial Charm
The Kichler Ashland Bay small chain lantern is an outdoor pendant with a rugged, harbour style look. A barrel shaped glass shade sits inside a slim frame, with a hinged carry handle on top and a short run of chain above. It adds old fashioned character to a porch or covered entrance.
Burnished Bronze Finish
This version is listed in burnished bronze, a darkened, aged metal tone that gives the frame, cap and ceiling plate a worn, characterful feel. Our product photos show the metal in a muted antique tone, so the colour may look a little different in your light. The clear seeded glass is full of tiny bubbles and has gentle ridges, so the bulb shimmers rather than glares.
How It Works
- One E27 lamp holder, suited to an LED bulb (bulb not supplied)
- Works with a dimmer if you choose a dimmable LED bulb
- Brass and aluminium frame with clear seeded glass
- Hangs from a ceiling plate on a chain
- Rated IP44, so it is protected against splashing water for sheltered outdoor use
- Class I electrical fitting, which needs an earth connection
An LED Edison style bulb suits the vintage look and is the one Kichler suggests for time honoured appeal.
Where It Works Best
Hang it in a porch, under a pergola or over a covered seating area, where the chain lets it sway slightly and settle at a good height. It also works over a back door or a garden room entrance.

The lantern is 15.4cm wide with a 12.5cm glass diameter. Including the chain, the overall height is about 56.3cm.
What bulb should I use?
An LED Edison style bulb in E27 fitting works well. No bulb is supplied, and a dimmable one lets you use a dimmer.
Can it hang outside in damp weather?
Yes, in a sheltered spot. It is rated IP44, which covers splashing water.
Does it match other Ashland Bay lights?
Yes. The Ashland Bay range includes wall lanterns in matching styles, so you can use them together on a porch.
