Karman Ti-Vedo Owl Wall Lamp - Matt White

An owl fixed to keep watch over the room

This wall mounted version of Ti-Vedo brings the same wide eyed owl face to a fixed spot on the wall, where its two glowing eyes seem to track the room below. Karman plays on the piece's Italian name, which translates loosely as "I see you," and the fixed wall position only adds to the sense of being watched. Unlit, it reads as a bold piece of ceramic wall art.

Matt white ceramic

Cast in matt white ceramic, the owl's rounded face has a soft, slightly chalky surface that keeps the sculpted features gentle in daylight. Against a plain wall, the pale finish lets the two illuminated eyes do the visual work once the light is on.

How it works

Two E27 bulbs, each rated up to 53W, sit behind the eyes for an even, doubled glow. Unlike the table version, this Ti-Vedo is a mains wired fixed wall light, connected directly to your home's electrics rather than plugged in.

Where it works best

Being fixed to the wall, it suits a hallway, staircase or living room where its position can be planned in advance, ideally at a height where the eyes are seen straight on. It's a good choice where a table lamp isn't practical, such as a narrow hallway or above a headboard where floor and surface space are limited.

Karman's Zoo collection

Ti-Vedo belongs to Karman's Zoo collection, a family of ceramic animal head lights designed by art director Matteo Ugolini that also includes Marnìn the deer, Cubano the toucan and Maoo the cat. Karman states every piece in the range is produced entirely in Italy.
