Karman Ti-Vedo Owl Table Lamp - Matt White

An owl that keeps watch from the sideboard

Ti-Vedo takes the classic owl silhouette and turns its two round eyes into the light source, so the piece appears to watch the room once switched on. Karman plays on the design's Italian name, which translates loosely as "I see you," a nod to the way the illuminated eyes seem to follow you around a room. Off, it's a rounded ceramic sculpture with plenty of character sitting quietly on a shelf.

Matt white ceramic

Formed in matt white ceramic, the body has a soft, slightly chalky surface that gives the owl's rounded features a gentle, approachable look. The pale finish means the two illuminated eyes provide most of the contrast and drama once the lamp is switched on.

How it works

Two E27 bulbs, each rated up to 53W, sit behind the eyes, giving a stronger and more even glow than a single bulb fitting. As a table lamp, Ti-Vedo is freestanding: fit the bulbs, plug it into a standard socket and it's ready to use, with no wiring or hard installation required.

Where it works best

Its compact footprint suits a console table, sideboard, bookshelf or bedside table, anywhere it can sit at height and cast its gaze across the room. It also travels well between rooms, so it's an easy piece to move if you rearrange furniture or want it somewhere new.

Karman's Zoo collection

Ti-Vedo belongs to Karman's Zoo collection, a family of ceramic animal head lights designed by art director Matteo Ugolini that also includes Marnìn the deer, Cubano the toucan and Maoo the cat. Karman states every piece in the range is produced entirely in Italy.
