Maoo tells a small story on the wall: a ceramic cat seems to leap towards a glass sphere lampshade, where a mouse shaped sticker glows from within. Matteo Ugolini designed it for Karman's Zoo collection, and this matt white version is the most understated way to bring that story into a room.

This colourway pairs a matt white ceramic cat with black aluminium fittings and a frosted glass sphere, so the shape of the piece, rather than a bold colour, does the talking. It's a quieter option than Karman's fuchsia, orange or light blue finishes, and one that sits comfortably against most wall colours.

How it works

The glass sphere takes a single G9 bulb, rated to a maximum of 5W if using LED, and the bulb isn't included. The frosted glass softens the light, and the mouse shaped sticker inside glows gently once switched on.

Where it works best

Because it's pale and fairly neutral, this version works in almost any room: a hallway, a living room, a child's bedroom, or a bathroom, anywhere you want a playful shape without introducing a strong colour.

Karman's Zoo collection

Maoo belongs to Karman's Zoo collection, a series that Karman states is built around characterful animal forms designed to bring warmth and humour into lighting. Karman is an Italian brand founded in 2005 in Fossombrone, in the Marche region, and describes its production as 100% Italian made.
