Karman Maoo Cat Wall Lamp - Light Blue Velvet

A bolder kind of playful

Maoo is built around a small piece of theatre: a ceramic cat appears to leap across the wall towards a glass sphere lampshade, inside which a mouse shaped sticker glows. It's the work of Matteo Ugolini for Karman's Zoo collection, and this turquoise version brings the same sense of mischief in one of the range's brighter colourways.

Turquoise flocked ceramic

Here the cat's ceramic form is finished in a vivid turquoise flocked coating, a fine textured layer over the ceramic that gives it a matte, velvet like feel rather than a printed or glazed surface. Set against the frosted glass sphere, it's a bolder, more saturated colourway than the brand's paler options.

How it works

The glass sphere takes a single G9 bulb, rated to a maximum of 5W if using LED, and the bulb isn't included. Once lit, the frosted glass diffuses the light evenly, with the mouse shaped sticker inside picking up the glow.

Its saturated colouring suits spaces that can take a strong accent: a playroom, a study, or a hallway where you want a touch of character that doesn't fade into the background.

Karman's Zoo collection

Maoo is part of Karman's Zoo collection, a range that Karman states draws inspiration from animals to bring a lighter, more playful note into the home. Karman itself is an Italian lighting brand founded in 2005 in Fossombrone, in the Marche region of central Italy, and describes its production as entirely Italian made.
