Maoo's game, cast in charcoal

At the heart of Maoo is a small piece of theatre: a ceramic cat frozen mid leap towards a glass sphere, where a mouse shaped sticker sits lit up just out of paw's reach. Matteo Ugolini designed it for Karman's Zoo collection, and this table version lets it perch on any flat surface rather than fixing to a wall.

Matt charcoal grey ceramic

This colourway gives the cat a matt charcoal grey ceramic finish, close to anthracite, set off by black aluminium fittings and a frosted glass sphere. The combination reads as a quieter, more considered take on the design.

How it works

Being freestanding, it needs nothing more than a plug socket, no fixings, no electrician, just set it down where you want it. The glass sphere holds a single G9 bulb, rated to a maximum of 5W if using LED, and the bulb isn't included.

Where it works best

The darker tone works well in a study or living room, on a bookshelf, a console table, or beside an armchair where a small amount of warm light is welcome.
