Karman Maoo Cat Table Lamp - Light Blue Velvet

A cat on the prowl, in vivid turquoise

Maoo is built around a small piece of mischief: a ceramic cat appears to leap towards a glass sphere lampshade, inside which a mouse shaped sticker glows once the light is on. Matteo Ugolini designed it for Karman's Zoo collection, and this table version sets the same scene on a flat surface, with no wall mounting involved.

Turquoise flocked ceramic

Here the cat is finished in a bold turquoise, using a flocked coating over the ceramic that gives it a velvety, matt hand feel rather than a glossy glaze. It's paired with a frosted glass sphere for the lampshade, and it reads as one of the brighter, more confident colourways in the Maoo range rather than a quiet one.

How it works

As a table lamp, Maoo simply plugs in and stands on its own base, ready to use straight away. The sphere houses a single G9 bulb, rated to a maximum of 5W if using LED, and the bulb isn't supplied.

Where it works best

The saturated colour suits a room that can take a strong accent: a playroom, a study, or a shelf where you want the lamp to stand out rather than blend in.

Karman's Zoo collection

This piece is part of Karman's Zoo collection, where familiar animal characters are reimagined as lighting. Karman describes its manufacturing as entirely Italian, from ceramics to glasswork.
