Karman Maoo Cat Table Lamp - Fucsia Velvet

A cat, a mouse, and a flash of Karman fuchsia

Maoo starts with a small joke: a ceramic cat looks as though it's caught mid pounce, reaching towards a glass sphere lit from within, where a mouse shaped sticker glows just out of reach. Designed by Matteo Ugolini for Karman's Zoo collection, this freestanding table version brings the same playful character to a desk, shelf or bedside table, with no wall fixing required.

Fuchsia flocked ceramic

This colourway pairs a fuchsia ceramic cat, finished with a soft flocked coating that gives it a velvety matt surface, with a frosted glass sphere. The flocking sits on top of the ceramic rather than being a fabric covering, so the piece keeps the durability of ceramic while feeling soft to the touch.

How it works

The lamp is freestanding: it plugs into a standard socket and sits on its own base, with no wiring or electrician needed. The glass sphere takes a single G9 bulb, rated to a maximum of 5W if using LED, and the bulb isn't included.

Where it works best

Its scale and colour make it a good fit for a bedroom or study where you want one confident, characterful object rather than a wall of colour, a bedside table, a bookshelf, or a console in a hallway.

Karman's Zoo collection

Maoo belongs to Karman's Zoo collection, a series of lights that borrow shapes and characters from the animal world. Karman states that all of its lighting is made entirely in Italy.
