Karman Lilly Table Lamp - Frosted White Glass

A soft, sculptural glass table lamp

Lilly is a table lamp built almost entirely from glass: base and shade in one continuous, curving silhouette designed by Giorgio Silla. In this frosted white version, the join between base and shade all but disappears, so the whole piece reads as one soft, glowing form rather than a lamp with visible parts.

The frosted finish diffuses the light evenly across the glass rather than letting it show as a bright point, so the lamp glows all over rather than shining from one spot. It's the quietest of the three Lilly finishes, and it works as a plain, pale object on a sideboard or nightstand where you want soft ambient light without much visual noise.

How it works

Lilly takes two E27 bulbs, up to 18W each if using LED, rated IP20 for indoor dry use. Bulbs aren't included. It's a freestanding table lamp with its own base, so there's no hard wiring involved, just fitting the bulbs and plugging it in.

Where it works best

Its soft glow and quiet form suit a bedside table, a living room console, or a hallway console table, particularly where you want ambient light rather than a strong reading light. Because the whole piece is glass, it's worth keeping it somewhere it won't get knocked, rather than a high traffic spot.

The name behind the lamp

Karman names the collection after Lilly Reich, the Bauhaus era German architect and exhibition designer known for her work with Mies van der Rohe, including the glass focused "Glass Room" exhibition. It's a fitting reference for a lamp built almost entirely from glass.
