Choosing Your Stanford Look

Left bare like this, the fitting shows off the full sweep of the brasswork and throws a brighter, more sparkling light around the room. The sibling Stanford 5 Light Pendant in Antique Brass & Beige Organza Shades uses the same five arm frame but adds hand pleated shades over each lamp for a softer, more traditional finish. Both hang on an adjustable chain, so the choice is about how much of the brass you want on show.

How It Works

Five E14 candle lamps rated up to 40W each are held on the arms, and the pendant is height adjustable at installation across a drop of roughly 450mm to 1550mm. It is Class 1 (earthed) and dimmable with a suitable dimmable LED lamp and a compatible leading or trailing edge dimmer. With this many exposed lamps in one room, a 2200K to 2700K CRI 90+ LED filament lamp will give the most flattering effect, and a lower output or frosted lamp is worth choosing to keep glare comfortable at seated eye level.

Where It Works Best

This is a genuine centrepiece for a dining room, entrance hall or double height stairwell, somewhere with the visual weight and ceiling height to carry five arms of exposed brass. Compared with the 3 light version it reads as a proper chandelier rather than a pendant, and compared with its own shaded sibling it suits a room that wants brightness and sparkle over softness.
