One Striking Bowl, Sized To Your Room

This inverted design comes as a single generous bowl, 50cm across, so the choice to make is really about drop rather than finish. The chain adjusts between 60cm and 100cm of projection, which gives you enough range to hang it low over a dining table or further from the ceiling in a room with more height to play with. Either way, the wide dish shape means the glasswork is on full display rather than hidden inside a shade.

How It Works

The fitting takes three E27 lamp holders and is designed around 10W LED lamps, which are not supplied. It is Class I rated, meaning the metal frame is earthed, and finished in a dark bronze effect that sets off the amber and cream glass. Used with a dimmable LED lamp and a compatible dimmer switch, the pendant can be dimmed to suit the mood of the room, and because the lamps are simple screw fit E27, there is no integral driver to fail and no need to replace the whole fitting if a lamp eventually goes.

Where It Works Best

Because the glass faces upward and outward rather than straight down, this pendant suits spaces where you want ambient light spread across a room rather than a tight spotlight, think dining rooms, kitchen islands or a living room seating area. It reads as a bolder, more architectural statement than the Jamelia Large 3 Light Pendant, which drops its glass shade downward for a more traditional pool of light, so the two work well as a considered choice between rooms rather than a straight swap.

Each piece of coloured glass in this pendant has been cut and set by hand, so slight variations in colour and texture between panels are part of the process rather than a flaw, evidence of a shade built by hand rather than stamped out by machine. Over four decades the brand has grown to cover solid brass and crystal lighting too, but the inverted Jamelia bowl is a direct descendant of that first Tiffany workshop.
