Hutchinson takes the Charles Rennie Mackintosh rose, the emblem of Glasgow style at the turn of the last century, and sets it three times over in hand assembled Tiffany style glass. Suspended on a long adjustable chain, this is the largest hanging piece in the Hutchinson family, built for rooms where the ceiling gives you room to play with drop.

Choosing Your Hutchinson

This is the 3 light large pendant, the one to reach for over a dining table, a wide staircase void or a hallway with real height. If your ceiling sits lower, the Hutchinson Medium Pendant or the semi flush and flush fittings in this range use a smaller 40cm shade and sit closer to the ceiling. The inverted version in this same large size throws its light upward through a bowl shaped shade rather than down through three individual shades, so choose between the two based on whether you want directional pools of light or a softer upward wash.

How It Works

Three E27 lampholders take a 10W LED lamp as the recommended source, not supplied with the fitting. Used with a dimmable LED lamp and a compatible dimmer switch, the fitting dims smoothly. The chain is fully adjustable between 41cm and 140cm, so the finished drop can be set to suit the room, and the shade measures 50cm across.

Where It Works Best

The three separate shades throw distinct circles of light rather than one broad glow, which suits a dining table where you want light gathered over the surface, or a stairwell where the fitting is seen from several angles as people pass. Compared with the semi flush and flush versions in the same family, this pendant needs headroom to hang properly, so it earns its place in rooms with a bit of ceiling height to spare.
