Light That Reaches The Ceiling First

Turning the shades upward changes the character of the Dragonfly Blue glass entirely. Instead of casting a pool of colour downward, this inverted pendant lets the light hit the ceiling first and spread back into the room, giving a softer, more ambient glow than a standard downlit pendant.

A More Compact Take On The Inverted Shape

This medium version hangs on a shorter chain than its large counterpart in the range, which keeps the shades closer to the ceiling and suits rooms where a lower, tighter drop is preferred over a dramatic hang.

How It Works

The pendant hangs on a height adjustable 1 metre chain, giving a drop of 600mm to 1000mm, with a shade diameter of 410mm. It takes 3 x 60W E27 (GLS) lamps, not included, and is dimmable with a suitable dimmable LED lamp and compatible dimmer.

Where It Works Best

Against the Medium 3 Light Pendant elsewhere in this range, which faces its shades downward for a more direct pool of light, this inverted version is the better choice where a softer, reflected glow is wanted, in a dining room or living space with a ceiling light enough in tone to bounce colour back attractively.

Interiors 1900 has offered inverted pendants alongside its standard hanging shapes for years, both built on the same handmade Tiffany style glass the brand has produced since 1983. The colour in each panel comes from mixing pigment into the glass while it is still molten, a technique that gives every shade its own slight variations in tone, part of what makes a handmade piece feel different from a mass produced one. The inverted shape is simply a different way of presenting that same handmade glass.
