The Dragonfly Beige Medium Inverted 3 Light Pendant hangs its shade the opposite way round to a standard pendant, bowl facing up, so light bounces off the ceiling before it reaches the room. The effect is softer and more ambient than a downward facing shade of the same size.

Why Beige

This colourway sits at the gentle end of the Dragonfly design, worked in ivory, honey and amber glass rather than the deeper blues and greens used in other colourways of the range. Because an inverted shade is viewed more directly than a hanging dome, the softer Beige tones keep the fitting decorative without becoming the loudest thing in the room.

How It Works

Three fixed chains hold the 410mm diameter shade at a set height of around 600mm rather than an adjustable drop, so it suits ceilings of fairly standard height. It takes 3 x 60W E27 (ES) lamps, not included, is dimmable with a suitable dimmable LED lamp and compatible dimmer, and is Class 1 earthed with a 3 year guarantee.

Where It Works Best

Choose this over the standard Medium 3 Light Pendant where you want light spread across the ceiling and upper walls rather than pooled on the table below, good for living rooms and hallways rather than task lit dining spaces. Reserve the taller Large Inverted pendant for rooms with more head height to spare.

Interiors 1900 first made its name in 1983 with handmade Tiffany style lamps, and the Dragonfly range still leans on that original technique. Coloured glass is mixed while molten, then cut and leaded into shape piece by piece, and Interiors 1900 is upfront that this means small differences in colour and texture from one shade to the next, part of the charm of a genuinely handmade fitting rather than a flaw. Four decades on, the brand covers far more than Tiffany lighting, but this inverted shape stays close to where it started.
