Dark Star UpLighter, Light Bounced From Above
A tall torchiere style floor lamp that throws its light upward rather than out or down, so the iridescent black and cream glass of its wide shade is lit from within while the ceiling above catches a soft, reflected wash of light.

At 175.5cm, this is the tallest fitting in the Dark Star range, taller even than the standard floor lamp, and built around a single upward facing lamp rather than the twin lamp arrangement used elsewhere. Choose this where you want ambient, reflected light rather than the more direct output of the Task Floor Lamp or the standard Dark Star Floor Lamp.
How It Works
A single E27 lamp, rated up to 60W, sits within the torchiere shade, and the fixture can be used with LED lamps. Its Art Nouveau inspired uplighter design means the light output depends on ceiling height and colour, so it works best as a mood setting piece rather than a primary reading light.
Where It Works Best
Its height and upward throw suit corners of living rooms or hallways with reasonably high ceilings, where a soft ambient glow is more useful than direct task light. It pairs naturally with a Dark Star table lamp for a layered scheme of reflected and direct light in the same room.

Interiors 1900 has produced handmade Tiffany style glass since 1983, and this uplighter carries that craftsmanship into one of the range's more unusual formats. The glass shade is still built from individually cut, hand mixed panels, so the iridescent effect varies gently from one lamp to the next. Its Art Nouveau styling draws on the same broad decorative heritage, spanning Georgian to Art Deco influences, that runs through the wider Interiors 1900 collection.
