Dark Star takes the same handmade Tiffany technique as the Brooklyn range and pushes it toward drama: triangular shards of iridescent black glass set against a pearly cream background, so the shade seems to shift colour as you move around it. This floor lamp is the tallest way to bring that effect into a room.

Choosing Your Dark Star Piece

With two lamps rather than one, this floor lamp sits above the Dark Star UpLighter and Task Floor Lamp in overall brightness, giving a fuller room light rather than a single directional glow. Choose this version for general living room lighting, and the UpLighter or Task versions where a more focused or reflected light is what you need.

How It Works

Two E27 lamps, rated up to 60W each, sit within the drum shade, and the fixture can be used with LED lamps for a longer lasting, lower running light source. There is no integral driver built into the fitting, so a failed lamp is simply a lamp change rather than a replacement fixture.

Where It Works Best

Its height and twin lamp output make it best suited to living rooms and larger reading corners where the Dark Star palette can be appreciated at a distance, rather than a small bedroom where the Small Table Lamp would be a better scale match. It reads as considerably more dramatic than the warmer toned Brooklyn floor lamp.

Interiors 1900 has been building handmade Tiffany style lighting since 1983, and Dark Star represents one of its more contemporary interpretations of that original craft, trading the traditional warm palette for a cooler, iridescent finish. Each shade is still assembled from individually cut and mixed glass panels, so subtle variation in the iridescence from one lamp to the next is part of the handmade process. The design leans toward the brand's Art Deco influences rather than its earlier Victorian or Edwardian work.
