Choosing Your Astoria Fitting

The same mixed glass runs through every Astoria fitting, so it is the drop that changes here. This semi flush pendant sits closer to the ceiling than the fully adjustable 3 Light Pendant or the Large Inverted version, with a shade height of around 22cm, making it the choice where you want the Astoria look without a long hanging drop. Where the ceiling allows more depth, the Large Inverted pendant lowers further and opens the glass upward instead.

How It Works

Three E27 lamp holders are fitted within the shade, rated for lamps up to 60W and dimmable with a suitable LED lamp and compatible dimmer. The shade itself measures around 22cm in height and 48cm across, giving a compact but substantial fitting that sits close to the ceiling without disappearing into it.

Where It Works Best

This is the Astoria fitting for rooms with a lower ceiling than a full pendant would suit, a dining room extension, a snug, or a bedroom where you want Art Deco character without the fitting hanging too low. Set alongside its siblings, it trades the dramatic drop of the 3 Light Pendant for a neater, closer to the ceiling silhouette.

Since 1983, Interiors 1900 has specialised in lighting built from individually handcrafted glass, and Astoria is its take on the geometric confidence of Art Deco design. The glass here is mixed while molten and bevelled by hand, so the finished shade carries small variations in colour and texture between fittings, a natural result of the process rather than a flaw to worry about. The brand's range has since grown to include solid brass and crystal lighting, but this hand assembled glasswork remains close to its founding craft.
